Forgot American Tattoo Website!

Oops! Sorry guys, I forgot to link American Tattoo's website. It is http://american-tattoo.com/

Big Brain

This tattoo shop has the location going for it for sure. At 1123 Jackson Street, they are in the Downtown area where many Omahans go for a night out. The website looks good and offers a lot of information. The website is http://www.bigbrainomaha.com/index.html. Their piercer, Smitty, is well-known and one of the best piercers around. I personally have two tattoos from them and I love them both. It was the place I got my first tattoo! My husband has one from them and he doesn't like his tattoo as much (granted this is more his own fault than theirs, as he chose the design). My experience was excellent there, but recently it seems they have grown out of their kind nature. My sister went their first to get her foot tattoo and they were less than satisfactory. They told her all the things she couldn't do: how it would have be be huge to include the detail, it would never fit on her foot, on and on. We basically turned and walked out because of the way they were treating us. It was very sad because they were so great in the past. We ended up going to Grinn & Barrett later and she got the wonderful (and detailed) tattoo that she wanted AND on her foot no less. The old Big Brain would earn a 3 1/2 out of 5...the new one, probably around a 2.

American Tattoo

American Tattoo is a shop located at 4452 South 84th Street. I checked out the webpage, and it isn't as interactive as Grinn and Barrett's. There has been one time that I entered the shop and I was not happy with the way I was treated. Granted I was 16 at the time and was with my mother. I wanted to get my belly button pierced and they were extremely rude about it. First of all, it was my (and my mom's) first visit to a tattoo shop. If I recall we brought my little brother and they very rudely told my mom she couldn't have him in the shop. I don't remember the specifics (this was a long time ago), but I didn't get anything done there. My husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, got a tattoo there. They wanted him to get something different, told him he should get it a lot bigger and across his back, etc. He also thought they were rude and pushy. He isn't the only one. I have had numerous people tell me how terrible they treat their clients. However, I can't comment on the work that they do. Perhaps the work is worth dealing with their poor attitudes? I wouldn't know! I would give them only 2 out of 5 (maybe 1).

Grinn & Barrett Tattoo

First off is Grinn & Barrett Tattoo located at 5002 Center St. Omaha, NE 68106. The website is great, very colorful and informative. The location is decent, although it could be better. The actual shop is nice. It has a good vibe to it and the employees are pretty awesome. The shop is owned by Jen Beirola. If you can get an appointment with her to do your tattoo, take it! She is amazing. My sister got her foot tattooed by Jen and she loves it. She listened to her explain what she wanted (and didn't once tell her that she couldn't do this or that, like many other shops)and said she would draw something up. The final product was even better than the picture my sister brought in. Her attention to detail is phenomenal and she doesn't accept less than perfect (or as close as she can come to it). She pierced my nose and did a great job. I had had it done before, and she wanted to move the hole. I asked if I could put it where the old one was, and she didn't argue. I am glad she gave me the option though. I later went in and got a tattoo. I didn't get Jen and my experience was different. The guy didn't listen well to me and I felt like I ended up with something I didn't consent to. I have to say I love the tattoo, but I wish it was a bit smaller and placed closer to the bend of my wrist (I will add pics later). All in all, our experience was good. Out of 5 thumbs up, I would give them a 4. To learn more about their services and tattoo artists, visit http://omahatattoo.com/
